UPR Thailand Plants Trees in Collaboration with UPR Corporation in Siem Reap, Cambodia

On June 19, 2024, Mr. Hiromichi Sasaki (Managing Director), representatives from UPR (Thailand) Co., Ltd., joined Mr. Yoshiya Sakata (President), representatives from UPR Corporation, in planting saplings in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This initiative was coordinated by the Japan International Forestry Promotion and Cooperation Centre (JIFPRO) and supervised by the Department of Northern Tonle Sap Terrestrial Natural Protected Area (DNPA).
Story behind the JIFPRO Forest Restoration Project
UPR Corporation is a contributor to the ongoing “JIFPRO Forest Restoration Project in Phnom Kulen National Park.” JIFPRO gathers and provides funding to the DNPA under Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment, which is responsible for the project’s implementation, including planting, forest restoration, quality control, and monitoring across 5 hectares of land. The project aims to restore native tree species for use as firewood, poles, and beams, meeting the needs of local communities while enhancing environmental protection and public participation.
